Rob Miller knows Wasps cannot afford to take their foot off the pedal if they are to make the top four this season and is adamant the absence of several key players will not prove costly

Dai Young's men are on a three-game winning streak in Aviva Premiership Rugby and have climbed up to fifth in the table as the season reaches its mid-way point.

But despite their recent form, Miller insists Wasps are not taking their position in the top half of the table for granted

"So far it's been a very demanding season for all teams involved, there is only a couple of wins between second and third, and seventh and eighth," the full-back said.

"We're just going to concentrate on ourselves and take it week by week.

"We won't be looking at any other games and hoping the results go our way, we'll just be doing our best to rack up the points."

A number of Wasps' most influential players have been called up for international duty in this year's Six Nations.

But Miller has been impressed by those who have filled the void in their absence.

He said: "There are a few key guys away with their international squads who have been great for us all year.

"Guys like Matt Mullan, Lorenzo Cittadini, Bradley Davies, Elliot Daly and James Haskell are all big losses for us, but we've got the strength in depth to deal with it.

"The guys who have come into the team in their place have really pushed the team on and helped to take us forward as a group and keep the momentum going.

"So a lot of credit has to go to them for our good form recently."

Wasps beat Newcastle Falcons 9-8 on Saturday at the Ricoh Arena and Miller admitted that being on the right side of such close encounters could make the difference come the end of the season.

And although Wasps have treated their fans to many try-fests at the Ricoh Arena this season, Miller praised the team's ability to change their style of play in order to get a victory ahead of Sunday's trip to league leaders Saracens.

He said: "We'd spoken in the week about how hard Newcastle were going to be to break down, and we were very aware of the threats they have in their side.

"Weather permitting, we like to move the ball around and play, but those games do come along once in a while where we can't do that and we have to just grind out the win in tough weather conditions.

"That win could be huge come the end of the season."
