Match Reaction: Dai Young post Bath

Following Wasps' last-gasp defeat by Bath Rugby, Director of Rugby Dai Young was understandably frustrated by the result, as they saw a potential win or draw slip away in the final few minutes of the match.

"I was frustrated with our whole performance throughout the day. We dropped the ball and turned it over twice for Bath's first two tries. We played far too much rugby in the wrong areas, without getting real penetration. We ran ourselves into the ground a little bit.

"Second half I thought we were a little bit smarter, we played the game a little bit better, got our noses in front and with two or three minutes to go, we've got to be experienced enough to see that out.

"We were beaten by the better team last week and I think Exeter showed just how good they are with their performance against Clermont as well.

"Today I think we had something like four times as many rucks as Bath did. They did a lot of kicking today and put pressure on us. I'm sure they are going to try and play a little bit more rugby next week."

Fundamentally Young believed his team could've performed better in those final few phases:

"We have to be smarter, we are not here to entertain, we are here to win games and we have to realise that when you're not getting much penetration or much joy, you've got to play field position as well. We were nowhere near clinical enough, we came into their 22 on numerous occasions but only came away with three points. Bath were much more clinical - in the first half they came into our 22 twice and scored twice.

"As I've said previously, we weren't quite as good as everyone was saying we were after the Toulon win. After last week we aren't quite as bad as everyone was saying either! We just need to look ahead to next week now."
